This is a tumblelog, kinda like a blog but with short-form, mixed-media posts with stuff I like. Scroll down a bit to start reading, or a bit more to read more about me.

I don’t know about you guys, but this is honestly what my friends and I heard. xD
Recently I have been obsessed with fairy tales from other countries.
Every child growing up has heard the same fairy tales over and over again but tweeked from the original Brothers Grimms versions. My favorite was Beauty and the Beast; and personally I think that is what my love story is like. (just joking).
Anyways, I am South Asian so I got curious about the fairy tales told in that region of the world and others. Growing up I only heard the stories of Laila Majnu or Heer Ranjha; both stories very similar to the defining romantic tale of two star crossed lovers, Romeo and Juliet, the classic play written by the one and only William Shakespeare.
Therefore, since my curiosity for fairytales or folk tales as they are known in these countries was getting the better of me I decided to ask my best friend Google where to find them. I came across an awesome site that had A LOT of folk tales from many, many countries. It’s a site put up by a professor from the University of Pittsburgh and I think it was a great idea. I will provide the link for any one who decides they have an itch to learn more about foreign folk tales like I did.
